Growing up, my parents read a story to me every night. I always assumed it was the norm in the bedtime routine for all children across the country. As a teacher with my degree in Early Childhood Education, I know the importance of reading to children. The benefits associated with a simple story at bedtime every day seem endless. Imagine my surprise when I read statistics showing that only 39% of parents read to their children on a daily basis (Young, Davis and Schoen, 1996). In short, I was stunned. I have witnessed struggling readers and the impact it has on their daily lives. When a child has difficulty reading, school all that suffers as a result. It would be something as simple as a story ten minutes daily interactions between parents and children to prevent these children struggle throughout their school? Could it really be that simple? I want parents to know how important it is to read to your children every day.

Teach Reading and basic writing skills

When children are read, they are taking in both at once. Simple things experienced readers can take for granted are introduced during the first years of life while listening to a story. Children who are familiar with the books knows how to hold a book and turn the pages left to right. They know that the book has a title. Pre-Readers also understand that the book contains imagery and words and begin to distinguish words and letters. Begin to recognize that the printed text is read from right to left and from top to bottom, which is directly related to beginning writing skills. Hello. Im 24 years old, but I was in modeling and industry quality from the time it was 8-16. I must say, until 15 … I really enjoyed it. I Commericals and advertisements Matel toys, clothes from Mervyn's, etc, and when it was youngest was really fun on set to play with other children in the shoot or commercial. I would have done for free was fun. However, when I approached to pubirty was not fun. My agent is sending me a call and tells me that dress in clothes that "showed my figure" … I wondered if she had grains that week, if so how many? If it was more than 2 or 3 who wouldnt send me because it would be bad represenation of your agency. 13-15 and had keys I have no work what-so-ever. Every audition I went, I said "Thanks for coming, but we need a smile not a smile of white metal" So I went down confidence in himself. I felt ugly because I couldnt get a job. So one day my agent calls and says "Guess what! Just the biggest job yet. You have been selected to be a model for Guess Jeans Junior for his next campaign, "Well, I was ecstatic! He said," Only one problem, you are booking your photo does not show your phone keys. So when I told them I had keys that were to deselect it and another girl. Then, I told them that should go to your dentist and remove "I immediately went from happy to sad. I knew my mom and dad or my dentist let me just my braces are removed. Were supposed to take another 6 months. Well, my mom took me to the dentist explained the situation and the dentist agreed to take him out for shooting and put them back the next day. And of course, took a couple of hours removing them, made the shooting the next day (had to take Tylenol, because I was in a great pain of having my keys pryed of my teeth!) and then spent a couple hours the next day put them back on. So where did the fun go??? Already was not fun. Because I never felt good enough. I always thought it would be perfect for the job if I was a little taller, thinner, teeth straight … The last audition I went I was 16 years old. It was my first year on the cheerleading squad in highschool and I was having so much fun … Encouraging games football on Fridays. For once, has not yet feel that people wasn't good enough or as they were inspecting me to see if I goor enough for them. Thus, a Friday morning as Im going to school dressed in my suit with joy, because we had a great night game against our rival school …. My agent calls me and says I have a hearing at noon in Los Angeles. I told him I wouldnt be able to go because my coaches joy rule was that if you have not go to school then couldnt joy in the game. She told me it was an audition that we did not want to lose. It was a commercial for Doritos Super Bowl game would be up and in the commercial InSync Me …. I was torn in both directions. I knew if I went to audition left me for my cheerleading team for being unable to perform with them in the game … And if I missed the audition and went to the game might be missing a great opportunity for a large trade. Needless to say, I went to the audition … cried all the because he knew his path was going to lose the game. I come to the audition and I'm surrounded by 5 or 6 beautiful girls still snob. I always like meeting new girls in the auditions … But this hearing was filled with cool girls. I tried talking to one and he rolled his eyes at me and ignored me. Then, as another girl was being called for an hearing told me: "Good luck" She looked at me and said, "No, you need a good luck !!"…. walked out of his right and has not yet even audition. And my mom told me, if thats how the industry is the older I get … I want nothing to do with it. Because life is too short to spend working with people in Hollywood who think they are better than everyone. I have no remorse at not Find a professional model or actor. Especially when I see the headlines of magazines all models celeberties and battle with drugs, depression and anorexia. Because if I had stayed with her … I might have been like them …. And although make much money …. It seems, its not FUN! And the loss itself is not worth any amount of money …. Happiness is much more important.
