If your child has show interest and you’d like to get him involved, now is the time to learn five of the most basic steps to prepare for child modeling.
Step One: Knowing Whether Your Child Is Camera Ready
Knowing whether your child is "camera ready" encompasses much more than just your child’s physical appearance. All children are beautiful, but not all children are cut out for modeling.
Maybe your child will enjoy the kind of attention he’ll receive during a photo shoot or on a commercial set, and maybe he won’t. Perhaps your child is a natural in front of the camera, and perhaps he’s shy. These are the kinds of things you must think about when determining whether your child is camera ready. Keep in mind, of course, that your child will help you figure it out!
Step Two: Securing Quality Agency Representation
There are scams involved with every kind of business, and you have to be careful not to get caught up shady agents and organizations once you and your child are ready to enter the world of child modeling. Despite the fact that children are involved, there are deceptive and underhanded people out there who will try to lure you in with "get rich quick" or "get famous quick" schemes.
Remember that you are dealing with a child – your child – and that you must do business with quality, reputable agency representation.
Step Three: Learning How To Get The Booking
When your child model is "booked" for a gig, it means he or she has been officially chosen as the model for a particular photo shoot or commercial. Of course, plenty of steps – such as securing agency representation, preparing a portfolio, and finding casting calls – must go into making sure your child has a good shot at getting booked.
Step Four: Understanding How To Prepare For The Photo Shoot
When it comes to preparing your child for a child modeling photo shoot, you’ll need to think about:
- Your child’s physical appearance.
- What you’ll be responsible for bringing to the shoot.
- What will be provided for you and your child at the shoot.
- Talking with your child about what will happen.
Step Five: Knowing What To Expect On The Shoot Day
Professional people in the child modeling business will help you prepare for, and know what to expect, on the day of a photo shoot; of course, that doesn’t mean you should know the right questions to ask before you arrive.
Too, aside from what happens during the actual child modeling photo shoot, you need to know what to expect both before and after the shoot, such as how the day will start at home and what will happen once the shoot is over.
Once you have a pretty good handle on everything that will happen on the day of a shoot, make sure you discuss it with your child. Even though he’s embarking on an exciting adventure, the unknown can be a scary thing for him. Explain to your child what will happen and encourage him to ask you questions about anything he doesn’t understand.
